In 2001, sensing the need for visual artists sitting in the pews to be recognized and invited into community, Cindy West founded imago Dei, (literally, “in the image of God”). Now comprised of more than fifty dedicated members, this Colorado Springs-based artist community continues to aid visual artists in their walk with God, encourage them in their artistic development and spiritual journey, and provide a safe and accepting environment where servanthood and hope are alive.
Cindy is an artist who has created recognized art in several mediums – photography, fiber arts, paint, and video. She is also a leader of artists and a consultant to churches on how to release artists for the ministry to which God has called them. Cindy has been employed at Woodmen Valley Chapel in Colorado Springs for the past thirteen years as Director of Worship Arts.
In addition, Cindy has provided art direction on cd/dvd recording projects including:
Kingsway's Mission:Worship
Worshiplanet's The Door (Beijing, China first live worship recording)
Danny Oertli's LIVE Glimpses cd/dvd at Broomfield Auditorium
A long-time resident of Missouri, Cindy moved to Ohio to pursue her degree in visual communications from the Ohio Institute of Photography, which she received in 1991. Today, she lives in the foothills of the Rockies with her Golden Retriever, Bo.
